Preparations are well advanced for the Berbice Expo and Trade Fair, which opens on Friday at Rose Hall Estate Community Centre ground, East Canje, with all 180 booths booked.

Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce President Adrian Anamayah said during a media tour of the venue on Wednesday that more than 150 exhibitors, both returning and new, are expected to showcase their products and services.

The event runs from October 2 to 5 under the theme "Harnessing AI to Transform the Future While Enhancing Our People".

More than 3,000 people attended last year, and organisers expect a larger turnout this year. Following congestion at last year's event, added attention is being given to security and traffic management.

Regional Division Six Police Commander Superintendent Guy Nurse said systems are in place to ensure smoother traffic flow, with a strong police presence around the venue.
