The Gore name returned to the front of the pack on Saturday, as Tommi Gore, son of legendary Jamaican driver Doug Gore, secured pole position for today’s Group Four race in Round One of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) National Championships.

Driving the J’s Supermarket KTM X-Bow, Gore clocked a fastest lap of 1:15.609 around the 2.632-kilometre circuit. Rameez Mohamed was second in 1:18.989, while Andrew King qualified third in 1:21.071.

In the Street Class Bikes, Jerry DaSilva set the pace with 1:20.239, narrowly ahead of Salim Azeez on 1:20.356 and Denzel Hopkinson on 1:22.984.

Matthew Vieira topped the Superbike 600cc class in 1:17.616, followed by Elan Rahaman and Junior DaSilva. Kevin Persaud claimed pole in the Superbike Open class with 1:16.345, ahead of Alain Hopkinson and Adrian Mohar.

Anand Ramchand led Group Three with 1:24.747, while Nasrudeen Mohamed topped Local Group Two in 1:25.250.

Among the other classes, Joshua Ramdehol led Rookie A, Nicholas Sawh topped Rookie B, Ravin Ramoutar was fastest in Vitz Cup A, and Devesh Singh led Vitz Cup B.

Steven Nobrega posted the fastest Starlet Cup time in 1:24.569, edging Ramchand by 0.257 seconds.

Admission for today’s races is $4,000 for adults and $2,000 for children.

The 2026 championship is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, One Guyana, GuyOil, Enet, KFC and Castrol.

Tommi Gore
