Five students of Diamond Secondary School have received financial awards from the Small Business Bureau (SBB) after their business plans were selected under the 2026 Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (YEP).

The initiative, being implemented by the SBB in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is bringing entrepreneurship into the classroom while giving students an opportunity to develop practical business skills and explore enterprise as a career pathway.

The programme began in March with a teacher orientation and business plan development workshop at the SBB’s head office.

The session equipped 26 educators with the knowledge and tools to guide students in developing structured and viable business proposals.

Under YEP, students conceptualise business ideas and develop detailed plans for evaluation. Some of the areas of interest include home economics, agricultural science, and building technology. The most practical and scalable proposals are selected to receive financial awards.

The YEP programme is expected to benefit 60 students from 12 schools in 2026, providing young entrepreneurs with both financial support and practical mentorship as they develop their ideas.

Through the initiative, the SBB and Ministry of Education are seeking to strengthen students’ confidence, creativity and understanding of entrepreneurship while exposing them to the fundamentals of developing and managing a business.
