Growing up on Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown, Randy Morris faced the challenges that often accompany life in a tough urban community. But according to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), those circumstances did not define his future.
Morris, the second of five siblings, has become the first member of his family to join the Guyana Police Force, a milestone the agency describes as a testament to his determination, resilience and commitment to building a better future.
The GPF said Morris enlisted on October 18, 2025, motivated by a desire to serve and protect his community while establishing a secure foundation for his family and making his mother proud.
For Morris, the decision to join the Force represented more than a career choice. It was an opportunity to develop discipline, responsibility and a strong sense of service.
After months of rigorous training, Morris graduated from the Guyana Police Force Academy on August 21, 2026, earning a Certificate in General Policing.
The Force said his journey demonstrates how determination and perseverance can help young people overcome difficult circumstances and pursue meaningful careers.
Today, Morris returns to his community not simply as a young man who overcame obstacles, but as a trained police officer with an opportunity to serve the people around him.
