A 19-year-old man remains unconscious in hospital following an alleged confrontation involving cutlasses at Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje, Berbice.
Police said the teenager was with a 27-year-old woman around 10 p.m. on Friday when a disagreement developed between him and three male cousins, ages 18 and 19.
The argument reportedly escalated into a physical fight, during which those involved allegedly armed themselves with cutlasses.
The woman pulled the teenager away from the confrontation, but he collapsed and lost consciousness about five minutes later.
He was admitted to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital and is awaiting the results of a CT scan. Police said no visible wounds were found on exposed parts of his body.
Two of the cousins, ages 18 and 19, are in police custody as investigations continue.
