Surprised by his own success, 16-year-old Bhavin Griffith is turning his outstanding 2026 CSEC results into the first step toward becoming an engineer.
Griffith, of Huis’T Dieren, wrote 18 subjects and secured Grade Ones in Mathematics, EDPM, Principles of Accounts, Building Technology and Technical Drawing. He also earned Grade Ones in English A, Integrated Science, Office Administration, Principles of Business, Physics, Human and Social Biology, Information Technology, Religious Education and Physical Education.
He secured Grade Twos in English B, Social Studies and Economics, and a Grade Four in Spanish, a result he intends to have reviewed.
Speaking with Ignite News, Griffith of Anna Regina Secondary, said the results left him “beyond elated,” though he admitted he was also surprised by some of his grades.
His journey to this point was not without challenges. One of his biggest difficulties was finding lessons for some of his off-timetable subjects while juggling a demanding schedule and ensuring his School-Based Assessments (SBAs) were completed on time.
Despite the workload, Griffith remained focused on his goal. He said his greatest motivation was the desire to make his family, teachers and friends proud, and that determination helped him stay committed throughout his preparation.
Griffith is the son of Malika and Delroy Griffith, a bank supervisor and businessman respectively. The family has two children, and he credited his parents, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncle, friends and teachers for helping him reach the milestone.
He extended special appreciation to Miss Khemwattie, Miss Lalina and Sir Laljeet, who he said provided an extra push and constant encouragement when he needed it most.
With his sights set on university, Griffith hopes to pursue his ambition of becoming an engineer. For him, the CSEC results are not the final destination but an important step toward the career he has envisioned.
His message to fellow students was one of encouragement. He congratulated everyone who sat the 2026 CSEC examinations and wished them success in their future endeavours.
