Several persons have been questioned as police investigate the discharging of a loaded firearm near the Office of the President on Friday evening.
The Guyana Police Force said the incident occurred about 9:15pm in the vicinity of the Office of the President, Georgetown.
A police rank on duty at the location reportedly heard what sounded like a gunshot coming from the direction of the Square of the Revolution, preliminary investigations revealed.
Subsequent checks within the compound found an indentation with surrounding cracks on the windscreen of a motor bus attached to the Office of the President, which was parked on the northeastern side of the compound facing south.
A suspected 9mm warhead was also found on the ground in front of the motor bus and was lodged pending examination, police said.
CCTV footage is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
