
A 26-year-old miner was shot dead following an altercation at Prosville, Wismar, Linden, on Wednesday morning, police in Regional Division 10 said.
Keron McDonald, of Block 22, Wismar, was reportedly involved in a conversation with a 29-year-old man of Half Mile, Wismar, around 10am when the confrontation developed, police said.
According to initial investigations, the 29-year-old man allegedly retrieved a firearm from a car during the confrontation and discharged a round in McDonald’s direction, striking him to the left side of his chest.
McDonald was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor.
Police subsequently intercepted the 29-year-old suspect and escorted him to the Wismar Police Station, where he remains in custody as investigations continue.
The firearm allegedly used in the shooting has not been recovered.
