
A 38-year-old businessman of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, has been arrested after allegedly pulling a firearm on a motorist following a road dispute on Saturday.
Police in Regional Division #3 said the incident occurred around 5:20pm along the Pouderoyen Public Road, involving the businessman, who was on a motorcycle, and a 28-year-old construction worker of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, who was driving a motor vehicle.
An argument broke out between the two after they encountered each other on the road, police said. During the altercation, the businessman allegedly drew a firearm, pointed it at the construction worker and made a threat, causing him to fear for his life.
Acting on information received, police contacted the businessman, who was informed of the allegation and arrested.
The firearm, a licensed .32 Taurus pistol for which the businessman is the registered holder, was lodged along with a magazine containing 11 live .32 rounds pending investigation. CCTV cameras were seen in the area and footage was reviewed.
The businessman remains in police custody as investigations continue.
