Andre Cummings returned from a five-week weather-enforced break to win Round Five of the Promotech and Danny Auto Sales National Top Flight Golf League (NTFGL) Tour #2 on Sunday, while Anand Persaud retained a slender lead in the overall championship standings.
Cummings carded a net 70 at the Lusignan Golf Club to claim the overall title and the maximum 10 championship points after producing a consistent round. He also captured the Back Nine title with a net 34.
Patrick Prashad finished second with a net 73 to earn five points, while Joseph Szeplaki placed third on a net 74. Bala Vijimoor was fourth with a net 75, and Videsh Persaud completed the points positions with a net 76 after securing the Front Nine title with a net 34 following a scoring correction.
Brian Hackett added to the day’s highlights by recording a hole-in-one on the 19th hole.
The round marked the resumption of the league after a five-week suspension caused by persistent rainfall. Recent drainage and desilting works by the Lusignan Golf Club restored the course to playable condition, allowing competition to resume.
Despite missing out on the Round Five honours, Anand Persaud continues to lead the Tour #2 standings with 18 points, one ahead of Maxim Mangra on 17. Szeplaki strengthened his grip on third place with 14 points, while Videsh Persaud is fourth on 11.
Cummings’ victory lifted him into fifth place on 10 points. Bala Vijimoor is sixth with seven points, while Patrick Prashad and Santo Dinanauth are tied on six. Arnol Deo and Spencer Hutchings share ninth place on five points each, followed by Fazil Hanif on four, Mike Mangal on three, Brian Hackett and Patanjilee Persaud on two each, and Chet Bowling on one.
With only a few rounds remaining, the race for the Tour #2 title remains closely contested as players battle for the championship.
