Joseph Szeplaki won Round Four of the National Top Flight Golf League (NTFGL) on Sunday with a net score of 72, taking the maximum eight league points after edging the field on a tiebreak at Lusignan Golf Club.
Mike Mangal finished second with a net 73, as 20 golfers competed in the tournament’s second tour under warm, sunny skies.
Round Four was contested through Lusignan Golf Club’s weekly club competition, with players’ performances in the club tournament determining the allocation of league points. Competitors vied both for the day’s club honours and for points toward the overall Tour #2 standings.
Maxim “Danny” Mangra set the pace on the front nine with a net 34 to earn two league points, while Grounds Superintendent Brian Hackett delivered the best back-nine performance with a net 32, also collecting two points.
Mangra claimed the Nearest-to-the-Pin award, while Anand Persaud captured the Longest Drive prize.
Despite persistent rainfall in recent weeks, the course was presented in exceptional condition, a result credited to Hackett and the maintenance staff, who restored the fairways and greens to pristine playing condition.
In the overall standings, Persaud leads Tour #2 with 18 points, followed by Mangra on 17. Szeplaki’s win moved him into third place with 11 points as the competition heads into its next phase.
The league turns its attention to Round Five next.
