Faith Corrica-Nedd releases ‘Higher,’ a call to rise above life’s storms

Music has always been Faith Corrica-Nedd’s language for the divine, and with the release of her latest single, ‘Higher,’ the veteran Guyanese gospel artiste is once again inviting listeners to lift their heads above whatever storm they may be facing.

The song, born in an unexpected moment, carries the weight of testimony as much as melody. Corrica told Ignite News that its chorus took shape during a performance of her earlier single, ‘Perfect.’

“The chorus of the song was birthed at a previous performance in the height of me performing my single ‘Perfect,’ and we went home and built from there. We wanted it to be a song of magnification, about who God is to me,” she said.

At its heart, ‘Higher’ is a reminder wrapped in sound ‒ that no circumstance, however heavy, outweighs the name it exalts.
“That regardless of your situation, one thing will stand above it all, and that’s the name of Jesus,” Corrica said.

It is a message she has spent years refining, both on stage and in spirit. Widely regarded as one of Guyana’s leading gospel voices, Corrica has built her ministry through churches, conferences and national platforms, earning recognition as Female Gospel Artiste of the Year at the DemRoc Music Awards in 2022, 2023 and 2025. Her range extends beyond gospel entirely; she is also a two-time Guyana Senior Calypso Monarch, a rare crossover that speaks to both her versatility and her fearlessness as an artiste.

Yet for all her accolades, Corrica resists the label often placed upon her.
“I wouldn’t call myself a veteran,” she said, laughing.

“But if you’ve been listening to my music from the beginning, ‘Abide,’ you would hear that there has been significant growth not only in the production, but in my writing and even more in my execution. I believe that my spiritual growth over time has been a major plus for my ministry, and I couldn’t do it without the guidance and covering of the Holy Spirit,” she added.

That growth was on full display recently at the One Guyana Worship Experience, where Corrica joined fellow gospel artistes before a sea of worshippers. For her, the moment was more than a performance ‒ it was purpose in action.

“It was truly an amazing experience to stand in front of thousands of people who made time to be in God’s presence. As a Christian, I believe in taking up space in a world so wretched. I believe that every opportunity we get to lift up the name of Jesus in our nation, we should grab a hold of it instead of sitting around and doing nothing.

Our nation needs Jesus now more than ever, and I’m grateful that the Lord entrusted me with the task of ministering to His people,” she said.

Now, as ‘Higher’ finds its way to listeners, Corrica hopes the song becomes less about her voice and more about the truth it carries.

“When you listen to ‘Higher,’ don’t just listen to it because it’s Faith or because she has a nice voice. Put yourself and your situation in the same place and remember that regardless of how things might seem, above everything, the name of Jesus stands above them all,” she said.

With each release, Faith Corrica-Nedd adds another verse to a ministry built on faith, hope and unwavering conviction ‒ a voice that continues to rise, one song at a time, in Guyana’s music landscape.
