The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) has confirmed that its upcoming Dakota 100 Endurance Race Meet, scheduled for 28 June 2026, has been cancelled.
The decision comes as ongoing works at the circuit have not yet been fully completed, leaving the venue unsuitable for safely hosting drivers, competitors and race officials.
The safety of all participants remains the highest priority, and after careful assessment, organisers determined that postponing the event is the most responsible course of action at this time.
“We appreciate the patience, understanding and continued support of our drivers, teams, sponsors and fans as we work to ensure the best possible conditions for future events,” the GMR&SC stated.
“We knew that the aggressive timeline for bringing the venue up to standard was going to be difficult, and the weather has not been on our side.
However, we have commissioned a team to work 24 hours a day to bring the venue up to the standard we require.
“What we can say is that the actual track is complete. It is the ancillary works, perimeter fencing and related infrastructure that are still being built and put in place.
Because of this, some of the machinery and materials remain on site, and as such, we cannot risk having competitors at the venue while these hazards exist,” the GMR&SC added.
Updates regarding a new event date and future racing activities will be communicated once arrangements have been finalised.
