Police have identified the suspect fatally shot on Wednesday night during an attempted armed robbery at a supermarket on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, as 24-year-old Nia Emmanuel of Norton Street, Lodge.

Investigators said a .38 revolver recovered from the scene, along with three live rounds, one spent shell from the weapon, and three 9mm spent shells, has been lodged for further examination.

The shooting occurred at about 20:40 hrs on June 10 during what police said was an attempted robbery under arms at the supermarket.

Emmanuel’s body was taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police said subsequent checks revealed that Emmanuel was wanted in connection with an alleged discharge of a loaded firearm with intent matter that occurred on November 3, 2025.

Investigators are continuing efforts to locate the other suspects involved in the incident as the probe remains ongoing.
