The US$161.3 million upgrade of the Soesdyke-Linden Highway is 62 per cent complete, with paving works now in their final stages, the Ministry of Public Works said.
Core paving along the 72-kilometre corridor is 90 per cent complete, while rehabilitation works stand at 98 per cent, with 1.05 km remaining. Reconstruction works are 93 per cent complete, with 1.9 km left to finish, the ministry said.
Curb and slipper drain installation is 87 per cent complete, and drainage and water management works are 52 per cent complete.
The project also includes two new roundabouts aimed at improving traffic flow and safety. Construction at the Millie’s Hideout junction is complete, while work continues at Soesdyke Junction.
Installation of highway lighting has begun, with 700 lampposts already on site and the remainder in production, the ministry added.
The Ministry of Public Works urged motorists to exercise caution, noting that the corridor remains an active construction zone.
