Heavy rain forces temporary closure of seven schools

Flooding caused by heavy rainfall

Seven schools across Guyana have been temporarily closed due to weather-related challenges following recent heavy rainfall, the Ministry of Education said on Monday

.
The ministry said Education Officers visited more than 75 per cent of schools nationwide on Sunday to assess conditions and ensure that learning environments remain safe and accessible.

Authorities said the affected schools are being supported through alternative arrangements to ensure learning continues where necessary.

The ministry said it would continue monitoring the situation and provide updates as conditions evolve.
