Construction worker in custody after ammunition found in haversack

A 28-year-old construction worker is in police custody after a quantity of ammunition was discovered during a police operation at High Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, on Monday morning.
According to police, ranks in Regional Division Six conducted the operation at approximately 11:45 hrs after acting on information received.
Officers went to the suspect’s home, where a search was carried out in his presence.
During the search, police reportedly found a black haversack containing one 9mm round and nine .223 rounds of ammunition.
The construction worker was subsequently arrested and escorted to the Central Police Station, along with the ammunition, which was lodged as evidence.
Police said the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
