Taxi driver remanded in connection with discovery of 10 AK-47s

Stephen Rajah, 33, a taxi driver of Back Street, Goed Fortuin Village, West Bank Demerara, was remanded to prison on Thursday after being charged with possession of a firearm in connection with the discovery of 10 AK-47 rifles.

Rajah was arrested on May 22 and appeared before the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him.

He was not required to enter a plea. Bail was refused and the case was adjourned to June 15.
