Guyana will host a joint International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) forum on aviation safety in September 2026, bringing together global regulators, technical experts and senior government officials.
The Third Global Regional Safety Oversight Organisation (RSOO) and Regional Accident and Incident Investigation Organisation (RAIO) Forum for Aviation Safety will be held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre from September 29–30.
The event, organised in collaboration with the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), is expected to focus on strengthening regional safety oversight systems and improving international cooperation on accident and incident investigations.
GCAA Deputy Director General Dr. Saheed Sulaman said that the forum marks a significant milestone for Guyana and the wider Caribbean aviation sector.
“It represents one of the most important international gatherings dedicated to aviation safety oversight, regional cooperation, and accident investigation systems,” he stated at the media launch on Wednesday.
Sulaman added that hosting the forum reflects growing international confidence in Guyana’s aviation sector.
“This global conference is not just a bureaucratic milestone.
It is a collective declaration that we will be stronger, we will be safer, and we’ll definitely be more resilient when it comes to aviation,” he remarked.
Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation Deodat Indar observed that Guyana’s ability to attract major international conferences reflects its broader economic transformation.
“There were days when we couldn’t accommodate these kinds of global events,” he noted, adding that the country is now hosting increasing numbers of international meetings linked to aviation, oil and gas, and tourism.
Participants will exchange best practices, address emerging challenges, and identify strategic priorities for strengthening safety oversight and investigation capacity across regions.
