A student involved in a violent confrontation at Tuschen Secondary School has been expelled and taken into police custody, while a teacher allegedly linked to the matter has been placed on administrative leave pending a police investigation.
The Ministry of Education said on Thursday that it had launched an immediate investigation into the incident, which left two students injured earlier in the day.
The injured boys were taken to the De Kendren Regional Hospital, where they received medical treatment and were later discharged.
Education Minister Sonia Parag visited the students and their families at the hospital, accompanied by the Regional Health Officer, the Regional Education Officer and the school’s headteacher, the ministry said.
The Childcare and Protection Agency under the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security has also been notified as part of efforts to address the welfare of those involved.
The ministry said it remained committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of students and teachers and would continue to enforce standard operating procedures aimed at maintaining a secure learning environment.
