US deports 12 Guyanese; murder and domestic violence accused placed in custody

Twelve Guyanese nationals were deported from the United States to Guyana on Tuesday, the Guyana Police Force said.

Upon arrival, all 12 individuals were interviewed and profiled by relevant authorities in accordance with established procedures.

Ten of the deportees were subsequently released into the care of relatives, with instructions to return at a later date.

Two men remain in police custody. One, a 42-year-old whose address is unknown, was deported in relation to a murder case.

The other, a 35-year-old with no fixed address, was deported in connection with a domestic violence matter, police said.
