
A 28-year-old construction worker was killed on Saturday night following a stabbing incident during a drinking session in Soesdyke, police said.
Curtis Bengochea, of Eight Street, Ivan Road, Soesdyke, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Diamond Regional Hospital after being found with a stab wound to his left rib area, authorities said.
Police from Regional Division #4 ‘B’ said Bengochea and a man known to him were consuming alcohol with others around 22:30 hrs when an argument broke out. The suspect allegedly armed himself with a knife and attacked Bengochea, with the confrontation continuing briefly in a nearby drain before bystanders intervened.
The suspect fled the scene on foot and remains at large, police said. Bengochea’s body has been taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home pending a post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
