Cotton Field Secondary School set for December completion

Education Minister Sonia Parag

Construction of Cotton Field Secondary School in Region Two is progressing steadily and is expected to be completed by December 2025, Education Minister Sonia Parag said on Wednesday. The $1.8 billion project aims to expand access to secondary education in the region and ease overcrowding in nearby schools.

During a site visit, Parag emphasised the need for round-the-clock work schedules and accountability, describing the deadline as a commitment to students and families awaiting improved learning facilities.

The inspection followed discussions with headteachers from across Region Two, where key issues affecting the education sector were addressed.

The Minister was accompanied by Permanent Secretary Shannielle Hoosein-Outar, Chief Education Officer Saddam Hussain, and Chief Planning Officer Mischka White-Griffith, who reviewed the construction to ensure it meets national standards.

The new school is designed to accommodate around 650 students and will include modern classrooms, science laboratories, and dedicated sports facilities.

Officials said the project reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the education sector and create opportunities for the next generation in Region Two.
