Post-mortem confirms Adventure teen died from drowning, multiple injuries

Aarif Azeez

A post-mortem examination has confirmed that 16-year-old Aarif Azeez of Lot 28 Adventure, Region Two, died from drowning compounded by multiple injuries.

Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh conducted the examination on Tuesday at the Suddie Hospital Mortuary. The body was subsequently handed over to relatives for burial.

On Tuesday, Aarif’s family expressed concern over the severity of his injuries, raising suspicions of foul play. His sister, Malika Azeez, told Ignite News that the injuries, including a broken foot and head trauma, were “baffling” and suggested he may have been assaulted.

Aarif, a student at Madina Academy, had been jet skiing with four others at Hot and Cold Lake, Sand Pit/Red Village, when his jet ski reportedly ran low on fuel. He was last seen moving in a zigzag pattern before falling into the water about 50 feet from shore.

Family members said Aarif had left home on Easter Monday with a cousin and friends, expecting to return by 15:30, but concern grew when his location was later traced to Onderneeming.
