Teen feared drowned reportedly ran out of fuel while jet skiing on lake

A 15-year-old boy who is feared drowned reportedly ran out of fuel while jet skiing on the Hot and Cold Lake, Sand Pit/Red Village, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) on Monday.

The teen has been identified as Arif Azeez, a student of Madina Academy, Cotton Field, and a resident of Adventure Village.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred around 16:30h at the lake in Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast. Arif reportedly visited the area earlier in the day with four friends for a recreational outing using two jet skis.

According to information, Arif was operating a red-and-white jet ski when it began running low on fuel. He reportedly advised a friend to continue ahead while he managed the remaining fuel.

Shortly after, he was seen maneuvering in a zigzag pattern before falling into the water approximately 50 feet from the eastern shoreline.

One of the friends, who was some distance away, immediately raised an alarm and attempted to assist but was unable to locate him.

A search operation was launched involving Arif’s father, relatives, and community members using boats. Efforts are ongoing as they continue to search the area.
