President Dr Irfaan Ali has recommitted his support for the One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast, which enters its fourth year.
President Ali, the tournament’s patron, met with organisers at State House, where they outlined the roadmap for this year’s tournament, which commences in early August.
The tournament, which has expanded to all counties, will again be played across four zones: Berbice, East Bank/West Demerara, Essequibo, and Georgetown/East Coast Demerara.
The President commended the organisers for the expansion, noting that it has made the tournament more popular across the country and a breeding ground for talent, bringing recognition to some of the nation’s best players, including recent West Indies player Quentin Sampson.
In line with the President’s previous mandates, this year’s edition will place greater emphasis on female participation, with more matches integrated into the schedule.
The tournament will conclude with the national finals in mid-October at the Anna Regina National Stadium.
Beyond the domestic circuit, the President was also briefed on plans for an International Tapeball Tournament later this year.
The marquee event aims to pit top performers from the One Guyana T10 Blast against international sides from Asia, North America, and the Caribbean.
The initiative is designed not only to provide local players with international exposure but also to solidify Guyana’s growing reputation as a premier destination for sport tourism.
