The Linden Expo and Business Forum is being positioned as a major catalyst for investment, networking and economic expansion.

Scheduled for April 22–23 at the Watooka Complex, the event will target small and medium-sized enterprises on the first day, and larger corporations and investors on the second.

The initiative is organised by the Linden Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Development (LCICD).

Secretary Staydon Payne said the primary objective remains the promotion of businesses and services within Linden and the wider Region 10, while creating avenues for partnerships with overseas investors.

“The expo is definitely a networking and linking event where businesses from Linden and Region 10 can connect with businesses outside the region and overseas to expand their operations and attract investors. We have many success stories,” he said.

Payne noted that the Guyana Marketing Corporation remains a key partner for the chamber and private sector in helping businesses expand and improve their services.

“GO-Invest and other government agencies, along with private sector bodies, are usually present. Financial institutions are also there, where businesses can access information on how to better secure financing to expand and grow,” he added.
LCICD President Lyndon Younge said agro-processors will have an opportunity to pitch their business ideas before showcasing them during the expo.

“We will have ministries and agencies outline the support available for development, while large international companies will indicate how direct investment can benefit the region,” he said.

Younge added that a new feature of the forum will allow youth entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas for the Youth Innovation Award, with a top prize of up to one million dollars.

The expo component will run from April 23–26, featuring exhibitions aimed at promoting products and services to a wider audience.
