GUYOIL says no increase in fuel prices at service stations

The Guyana Oil Company Limited (GUYOIL) on Thursday said there has been no increase in fuel prices at its service stations across the country, dismissing claims circulating on social media.

In a statement, the state-owned company said a post by a politically aligned social media page, “Credible Sources,” inaccurately alleged that fuel prices had risen at several GUYOIL stations.

GUYOIL said prices remain unchanged at its locations in Georgetown and along the East Bank of Demerara, which were referenced in the post.

The company said gasoline continues to retail at $170 per litre, diesel at $168 per litre, kerosene at $155 per litre, and ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) at $190 per litre.

GUYOIL said it operates under a regulatory and compliance framework designed to ensure transparency in pricing while protecting consumers from market volatility.

The company added that it continues to work with relevant regulatory authorities to ensure fuel supply and pricing remain stable and consistent with national policy.

GUYOIL also criticised the social media post as “irresponsible and misleading,” noting that the page did not seek verification from the company before publishing the claim.

The company said it remains committed to maintaining reliable fuel supply and competitive pricing for motorists, businesses and households across Guyana.

It urged the public to rely on official statements from GUYOIL and other relevant authorities for accurate information on fuel pricing and supply.
