Charles, Bailey, Satar shine at GAPLF 2026 Novices and Juniors Championship

Charlotte Charles, Andrew Bailey, and Omar Satar were the standout performers at the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation’s (GAPLF) 2026 season opener, the NSC/Fitness Express Novices and Juniors Championship, held at the Saint Stanislaus College Auditorium on Sunday.

Charles, the only female competitor, won gold in the 69kg Women’s Master 1 Raw and Open Raw categories.
Bailey claimed the Best Lifter award in the 83kg Men’s Open Raw division, lifting 225.0kg in the deadlift to edge past rival Brandon Joseph.

Eighteen-year-old Omar Satar earned Best Lifter honours in the 83kg Men’s Junior Raw category, achieving a total of 525.0kg across all lifts.

Seven gyms participated, including Roy’s Gym and Total Fitness. GAPLF President Franklin Wilson described the championship as a success, noting it coincided with International Women’s Day celebrations.
