On February 28, three masked men armed with high-powered weapons stormed G. Sudhai and Son Supermarket at Lot 2B Rose Hall Town, police and the business owner said. The gunmen reportedly entered from the backdam and ordered staff and customers to lie on the floor during the four-minute robbery.
Business owner Gurudat Sudhai said the assailants, armed with two AK-47 rifles and a shotgun, forced his wife to hand over keys to the cashier area before emptying the drawer. The men escaped through nearby backlands.
Sudhai has since called for increased police patrols and improved surveillance, noting that his business had also been robbed about three years ago. He said the family is considering migrating following the incident.
