A former officer of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) died on Monday, a day after he was involved in a crash along the Number 74 Village Public Road in Corentyne, Berbice.
Seon Carolton Hunte, 34, a father of two, succumbed to injuries he sustained in the accident, which occurred at about 05:00 hrs on Sunday.
Police have not yet issued an official report on the incident. Details remain unclear, but relatives said Hunte was believed to be driving back to Georgetown when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle.

Hunte’s reputed wife, Tishana Harrilal, said she received an early morning call informing her that he had been seen at a hospital following a crash. When she attempted to contact him, a man answered his phone and told her he had found it along the roadway and that its owner had been involved in an accident.
Harrilal said she rushed to the hospital, where she found Hunte breathing heavily and unresponsive to her presence.
Doctors later informed her that he had sustained multiple injuries, including skull fractures, a broken spine, fractures to his foot and internal bleeding.
“He was a caring person. He was never a bad person to anyone,” Harrilal said, describing him as devoted to his children and family.
Authorities are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
