A new Government Services Centre at Cotton Field in Region Two is entering its final phase of operational readiness, bringing key services under one roof to residents of the region.
The facility is designed to centralise essential services, including the Guyana Passport Office, Guyana Digital School, and the General Registrar’s Office. Residents will be able to access passport and immigration services, digital learning support, and birth, marriage, and death certificate processing at a single location.
Finishing works are ongoing, including the installation of office fixtures, ICT systems, security features, waiting areas, and furniture.
The centre is part of the government’s effort to decentralise services, reduce travel time and costs for citizens, and improve public service delivery across the regions. Similar centres operate in Regions Three and Five, offering services such as access to the Environmental Protection Agency, statistics collection, national standards, and police clearance processing.
Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Madanlall Ramraj, inspected the site on Saturday, engaging with residents who welcomed the initiative and expressed interest in employment opportunities. He was joined by Regional Chairman Devin Mohan, Regional Vice Chairman Humace Oodit, Deputy REO Omesh Sasenarayan, and other senior officials.
The Cotton Field centre is expected to improve accessibility and convenience for residents along the Essequibo Coast, reinforcing the government’s commitment to equitable regional development.
