Female teen among four arrested in Herstelling robbery

Police have arrested four people, including a 19-year-old female, following an armed robbery at Herstelling New Scheme, East Bank Demerara, on Thursday evening.

A 59-year-old businesswoman was confronted by two men, one armed with a handgun and the other with a knife, and handed over two cell phones and other items valued at GYD $93,500. The suspects fled in a motor car.

The four arrested — a 21-year-old driver, a 28-year-old labourer, a 24-year-old porter, and a 19-year-old female — are all from Bougainvillea Park, Farm, East Bank Demerara. A search recovered one stolen phone, additional phones, toy guns, a cutlass, scissors, suspected counterfeit cash, and a bottle of wine. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
