One-stop government service hub opens in Region Five

Residents of Fort Wellington and surrounding communities will have faster access to public services following the opening of a new Government Service Centre on Wednesday.

The facility was officially commissioned by Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency and Implementation, Zulfikar Ally, alongside Minister of Education Sonia Parag and other officials.

The centre consolidates services under one roof, including police clearance, passport processing, E-ID and driver’s licence issuance, and registration of births, deaths, and marriages, reducing the need for residents to visit multiple offices.
Speaking at the event, Minister Ally said the Fort Wellington centre is part of a national plan to bring government services closer to citizens.

“This is just the second one. We’re going to do this in Region Six, Region Two, Region One, Region Nine, all over, so that everyone can be served with dignity and respect. That is what the president wants. He asks about these things every day. He wants to make sure our people are served and that services are readily accessible to them,” he said.
Minister Ally also urged residents to register for the E-ID, highlighting the importance of digital identification for easier access to public services.
