Guyana Cricket Board secures Olympic affiliation
GOA and GCB officials

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has officially gained Olympic affiliation, the organization said on Friday.
The move follows unanimous approval from the Executive Committee and General Council of the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA), which confirmed the GCB had met all required governance, constitutional, and financial standards set by the Olympic movement.

The affiliation allows cricket to be formally included in Guyana’s Olympic sports framework, providing opportunities for both male and female cricketers to compete on the Olympic stage.
Cricket is scheduled to return to the Olympic program at the Los Angeles 2028 Games, where six teams will compete in the T20 format for men and women.

Each nation can field squads of up to 15 players, with 90 athlete spots allocated per gender, following approval from the International Olympic Committee Executive Board.
The GCB said the affiliation also aligns Guyana with the sport’s growth across the Olympic movement, including participation in the 2026 South American Games and the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.
