Originally from Perseverance, Region Two, Guyana, 35-year-old Kamlawattie Persaud has achieved international recognition while living in Delhi, India, becoming the first female author from Guyana to receive an Asia Book of Records Certificate.
Her move to India in 2019 came during a complicated period in her life, tied to circumstances and a project that did not unfold as planned. What could have remained a difficult chapter instead became the turning point that reshaped her life. Drawing on the spiritual foundation she developed from a young age while attending satsanghs at her village Mandir in Perseverance, Kamlawattie leaned into yoga, self-inquiry, and spiritual practice to rebuild herself from within.
That inner work would later inspire her to write her book, She Who Rose Again – The Spiritual Path of Feminine Awakening: Turning Self-Loss into Spiritual Rebirth and Living with Unshakeable Grace.
The book is a deeply reflective spiritual memoir that speaks to women who have lost themselves through survival, silence, or relationships, and gently guides them back to their inner strength and self-worth. Rather than offering quick fixes, it encourages remembrance, healing, and grace.
Today, Kamlawattie is also an internationally accredited Yoga Instructor with Yoga Alliance USA and a Yogapreneur. Through her platform, Yoga Slim with Kamla, she teaches women around the world how to transform their bodies, hormones, and minds naturally through Yoga and Ayurveda.
Her literary milestone came under the Likhega India Mission, led by the India Authors Academy, where 774 authors published e-books in a single day—earning global recognition. Each participating author received certification from the Asia Book of Records, and Kamlawattie’s achievement marked a proud moment not only for herself but for Guyana.
Reflecting on the honour, she shared that the recognition represents more than an award—it is a symbol of resilience, healing, and the power of not giving up, even when life unfolds differently than expected.
“To represent Guyana as a woman and an author on an international platform is deeply meaningful,” she said.
From the small community of Perseverance to an international stage in India, Kamlawattie Persaud’s journey shows what can happen when perseverance meets purpose, and challenges are transformed into stepping stones for growth. She said the award brings her prestigious pride not only for herself but her country Guyana.
