Six persons remain in police custody as investigations continue into the death of wanted man Jamal Bourne, also known as “Skinny”, following the discovery of suspected human remains, a firearm, ammunition and other items during an operation in Linden on Wednesday.
The operation was conducted between 10:30 hrs and 15:00 hrs on January 21, 2026, at Three Miles, Wisroc Housing Scheme, Wismar, Linden, as part of the ongoing probe into Bourne’s death.

A team of Crime Scene ranks from the Criminal Investigation Department, supported by canine units, carried out extensive searches in the area after a video linked to the incident began circulating on social media.
During the operation, investigators examined a burnt area where suspected burnt human remains, including ashes and bones, were discovered. The items were secured and are to be subjected to forensic examination to determine their identity.

Further searches at a nearby wooden structure resulted in the discovery of a suspected pistol with an empty magazine, three shotgun cartridges, a suspected spent 9mm shell, knives, clothing and other items. Additionally, three toy rifles were found in nearby vegetation.
All exhibits were lodged, and the suspected human remains will be presented to a Government Pathologist for further analysis.
Police said the six arrested persons remain in custody as investigations continue. The Guyana Police Force stated that further information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
