More than 36,000 new businesses were registered last year, highlighting strong investor confidence in the country’s growing economy, Attorney General Anil Nandlall said on Tuesday.
Speaking on his Issues in the News podcast, Nandlall cited data from the commercial arm of the Deeds and Commercial Registries Authority, which showed that 36,251 new business names were registered in 2025.
“When I broke it down, the average is over 3,021 new businesses registered per month… an average of 755 businesses per week… 151 businesses per day. And I even went further: 19 businesses were registered every hour in an eight-hour day,” Nandlall said.
In addition, 1,516 limited liability companies were incorporated in 2025. “That is 126 companies incorporated per month, 31 per week, six per day and almost one company per hour,” he added.
Nandlall described the figures as “amazing,” noting they reflect confidence from both local and foreign investors. He said the government intends to make improvements to the business environment to encourage further growth in the commercial sector.
