The Kobreimo Bridge in Mabaruma, Region One, is now fully open to both light and heavy vehicular traffic, the Ministry of Public Works said on Monday.
The bridge rehabilitation, carried out by Aruca Investment at a cost of $74.77 million, included constructing a temporary bypass, demolishing and reconstructing the 40-foot bridge, extending the structure, and installing additional deep foundation piles to strengthen the abutments. The project converted the former one-lane timber bridge into a reinforced two-lane structure.
The ministry said the project, completed amid necessary technical and logistical considerations, remains within its Defects Liability Period through February 28, 2026, during which the contractor is required to address any emerging issues. Officials emphasised that the work reflects a commitment to safe, durable infrastructure and thanked the Mabaruma community for their patience.
