Baird granted $1M bail in $153M theft case

Quincy Baird, a 37-year-old photographer from Plantation “B,” Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, has been charged with larceny by clerk or servant in connection with an alleged theft of $153 million from One Communications Guyana Inc.
Baird appeared on Monday before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead and was granted bail of GYD 1 million.
The case has been adjourned to February 11, 2026. Bail conditions require Baird to lodge his passport with the court, avoid contact with any One Communications Guyana Inc. employee, and report to CID Headquarters every second Friday of the month.
