Satellite imagery yesterday showed continued US military activity off Venezuela’s coast amid the Trump-era blockade.
Flight tracking recorded a Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton drone, marking the first drone detection since the escalation of operations.
The Trinidad and Tobago Guardian reported that By 3 pm, two US Navy F/A-18E Super Hornets and two Boeing EA-18G Growlers were observed near Caracas, flying at 23,000 and 28,000 feet, respectively, in opposite directions.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign and Caricom Affairs confirmed approval for US military aircraft to transit through Trinidad and Tobago in the coming weeks.
On Monday, a Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules landed at ANR Robinson International Airport in Tobago, departing around 6:20 pm, followed by another C-130 at Piarco International Airport an hour later.
Guardian Media’s inquiries to Defence Force officials and government ministers regarding local military involvement, security measures, and handling of US aircraft went unanswered by press time, leaving details of the operations and any local military coordination unclear.
