Guyana on Thursday welcomed Inter-Caribbean Airways’ inaugural service from Barbados to the Eugene F. Correia International Airport, as the country’s surging economy continues to boost regional air traffic.
Public Utilities and Aviation Minister Deodat Indar said the expansion reflects strong investor confidence in Guyana’s fast-growing aviation sector.
He praised the carrier for employing Guyanese pilots and crew on the first flight and for displaying the Golden Arrowhead on one of its aircraft, saying it fosters national pride.
Indar was joined by Tourism Minister Susan Rodrigues, British High Commissioner Jane Miller, Parliamentary Secretary Thandi McAllister, Director General Alfonso De Armas, and other aviation officials.
