ActionINVEST cops prestigious Social Impact Ally Award

The Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Guyana (WCCIG) has awarded its prestigious Social Impact Ally Award to ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc. (ACI), recognising the organisation for delivering some of Guyana’s most transformative and wide-reaching initiatives for women entrepreneurs. The accolade highlights a national commitment to expanding opportunities for women in business, strengthening economic inclusion, and advancing an entrepreneurial ecosystem.

This year’s award celebrates ACI’s delivery of a suite of programmes developed in collaboration with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women. These initiatives have reshaped access to entrepreneurship training in Guyana, reaching thousands of women and significantly improving financial capability, digital literacy, and overall business resilience. The expansion of these programmes has been supported by the ExxonMobil Foundation.

At the centre of this impact is the HerVenture mobile learning app, now one of Guyana’s most widely used digital training resources for women in business. More than 30,000 women—representing over one in every ten women in the country—have used the app to learn practical skills in finance, marketing, financial literacy, and digital payments. Designed to function offline, the tool has proven especially valuable for women in rural and remote areas who often face connectivity challenges.

In-person programmes have further strengthened this reach. Through Road to Growth, Road to Leadership, and Road to Finance, more than 600 women have completed structured, cohort-based training since 2021. These programmes build capacity in strategic planning, governance, leadership, and financial systems development, and have been delivered across Regions 2, 3, 5, 6, and 10.

ACI was also commended for advancing financial inclusion through the Bankability Fund for Women (BF4W), developed with the support of the IDB Lab. The programme has assisted 46 women entrepreneurs in formalising their operations and accessing financial services.

Speaking on the significance of the recognition, ACI’s Chief Training Officer, Tatianna Elcock, said it highlights the impact of continued efforts to empower women entrepreneurs across Guyana.

“We remain deeply committed to creating meaningful learning experiences, expanding access to growth opportunities, and supporting women as they build stronger, more resilient businesses. This award inspires us to continue strengthening our partnerships and championing the success of women in every community we serve,” she said.

Business Coach and Trainer Upasna Mudlier, who delivers the Cherie Blair Foundation’s programmes in Guyana, reflected on the transformation taking place among participants.

“Watching these women grow in confidence, clarity, and purpose has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. Every session reminds me of the power that lies within women when they are supported, challenged, and given the tools to thrive.”

Leanne Baker, Senior Programme Manager at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, also applauded the Guyana team.

“We are grateful for their continued partnership in delivering our training programmes and the HerVenture app to women entrepreneurs across the country, so they can start, grow and sustain successful businesses,” she said.
