Guyana has crossed a historic tourism milestone months ahead of schedule, surpassing its total 2024 visitor arrivals before the end of October 2025, positioning the country as one of the fastest-growing destinations in the region.
According to tourism officials, Guyana registered 371,446 visitors as of October 2025, exceeding last year’s total of 371,271. October alone saw approximately 42,306 arrivals, marking 28.9 per cent year-on-year growth. Cumulatively, the period from January to October reflects a 24 per cent increase compared with the same period in 2024.
Industry observers said the surge indicates Guyana is not merely rebounding but accelerating, driven by eco-tourism, diaspora travel, improved airlift, and aggressive destination marketing.
Tourism authorities said if current patterns continue, Destination Guyana could close 2025 with at least a 20 per cent overall increase, securing the highest annual visitor total in its history. For a country often overshadowed by more established Caribbean vacation hubs, Guyana’s rapid ascent suggests a notable shift in regional tourism dynamics.
Officials highlighted the strategic approach behind the growth, from expanding international market reach to leveraging attention linked to the emergent oil economy. This positioning casts the nation as both an eco-adventure paradise and an investment frontier, appealing to travelers seeking untouched landscapes and new cultural experiences.
Industry stakeholders said the latest arrivals data provides “strong evidence to guide future policy, investment, and marketing initiatives,” signaling that the government and private sector are likely to double down on infrastructure, hospitality expansion, and product development.
With global attention increasingly focused on the South American nation, officials noted the challenge will be sustaining growth while preserving the environmental treasures that define Guyana’s brand.
