The fifth annual Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo promises to bring new, innovative experiences to the business sector, with special emphasis on innovation and the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI).

This was revealed during the event’s media launch, hosted at the Aiden by Western Hotel in Georgetown on Friday.

Next year’s event will be held from February 17th to 20th under the theme, “Building Tomorrow’s Future Today.”

Over the years, it has brought together industry leaders for what has become one of the country’s largest and most influential business events. Organisers noted that it has evolved into a premier regional platform for energy dialogue, investment, and networking.

A new Innovation Challenge aims to bring young minds into the national conversation by inviting students from Grades 7 to 12 to design AI-driven solutions for real problems in their communities and the wider sector. Winners will be announced on the conference’s opening day.

The programme will also include the annual 5K Energy Run/Walk and an expanded “Taste of Guyana” experience.

Delivering remarks, Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, said a major focus of next year’s conference will be local content, which he described as a national success story. He said it has evolved into a national platform that brings together every major sector, including forestry, mining, agriculture, tourism and services, alongside the energy sector.

Its expansion, he said, reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of the developing oil and gas sector are linked to broader economic transformation.

“We have seen a lot of investment coming into Guyana in different areas, different services that are required for the oil and gas sector. The Guyana Energy Conference has really established itself to be a premier event not only regionally but internationally. More and more the interest keeps building in what Guyana has to offer. And what is good about our energy conference is that we are not only focusing on oil and gas,” he said.

President of ExxonMobil Guyana Limited, Alistair Routledge, in his remarks, reflected on the revolution of Guyana’s energy sector as he spoke of what lies ahead.

“We’re all going to get together to propel the industry, but also the country forward. In the 2025 edition, we created a vision. I look forward to us updating that vision, talking about the progress that we’ve all made and then talking about what is needed in order to continue on this remarkable journey in Guyana,” he noted.

Last year’s conference attracted more than 10,000 participants, over 200 exhibitors, 30 sponsors, and 75 speakers representing over 40 countries.
