A police constable in Guyana’s Region One was on Thursday remanded on a charge of possession of a firearm with intent to injure, after a video circulated online showing him brandishing a weapon during an argument with residents.
Constable Daniel Henry, of the Regional Police Division #1, appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh at the Port Kaituma Magistrate’s Court via Zoom. The charge, filed under Section 37 of the Firearm Offences Act, Chapter 16:05, was read to him and he was not required to plead.
The court denied bail and ordered Henry remanded to prison. The case was adjourned to Jan. 14, 2026.
The video, which went viral earlier this week, appeared to show Henry waving his service weapon in a threatening manner as persons close to him tried repeatedly to restrain him.
