The Guyana Bank of Trade and Industry (GBTI) will be a major sponsor of the KFC Goodwill International School Football tournament, scheduled to kick off on December 14 at the Ministry of Education ground.
GBTI is contributing 1.5 million dollars to the tournament. Head of Marketing Pernell Cummings highlighted the significance of the sponsorship at a handing-over ceremony on Tuesday afternoon.
“Football is a beautiful game and GBTI is proud to be part of this and we see it as an investment in the future. I do hope that one of the three teams from Guyana will stand out and return the championship to Guyana. As bank we believe in investment and we are investing in the future of Guyana,” Cummings indicated.
Meanwhile, Co-director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca, thanked GBTI for their support and emphasised the importance of such tournaments for the development of football.
“Today as we continue our journey to the sixth annual goodwill tournament, we at Petra are very happy to welcome GBTI Bank as one of the sponsors. Your contribution is an investment that you will see players graduating from this tournament,” Mendonca highlighted.
The tournament will feature schools from Brazil, Suriname, The Bahamas, Jamaica, and Trinidad, and will commence on December 14.
