Teenage girl dies in Huis’t Dieren accident

An 18-year-old from Huis’t Dieren, Region Two, died on Sunday after the car she was driving crashed into a lantern post while she attempted to avoid an oncoming motorcycle, police said.

The teenager, identified as Nayomi Singh, reportedly swerved her vehicle around 17:30 hrs when a motorcycle crossed into her lane, causing her to lose control. She sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Suddie Public Hospital.

Singh, the only daughter of Nalisha Singh, Headmistress of the Huis’t Dieren Nursery School, was remembered by relatives, friends and teachers as a bright and ambitious student who had represented her school at Youth Parliament.

The accident drew hundreds of residents to the hospital as news spread across the community. Singh’s body was taken to the Suddie Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

Police investigations are ongoing.
