Mental health, responsibility, and the importance of positive role models were at the centre of the 2025 International Men’s Day Forum and Cookout in Region Two.

The event, hosted by the Gender Affairs Bureau in collaboration with the Regional Gender Affairs Committee and the Regional Men’s Group, took place at the Affiance Community Centre Ground.

It began with a road march from Bacchus Play Park to the venue, symbolising unity and commitment to male empowerment.

Participants engaged in an interfaith opening programme featuring Christian, Hindu, and Muslim prayers, followed by the National Pledge and opening remarks from Brian Christiani. Regional Chairman Devin Mohan commended the initiative and emphasised the importance of creating more platforms for men to engage constructively.

He highlighted the ongoing support of the Regional Democratic Council and President Irfaan Ali’s Men on Mission initiative, which encourages men to focus on personal development and community contribution.

Representatives from the Ministry, Narvendra Rohit and Qincy Wong, facilitated an interactive session where men openly discussed mental health, responsibility, and positive role modelling, providing a safe and encouraging space for dialogue.

Plaques were presented to five distinguished honourees—Commander Khemraj Shivbaran, Wendell Walcott, Sookdeo Singh, Avish Ganesh, and The Mainstay Football Club—in recognition of their contributions to the community.

The programme included cultural performances, games, music, and a community cookout. A medical booth offered laboratory tests and distributed universal health vouchers to support men’s health.

Participants expressed appreciation for the event, noting the opportunities it created for fellowship and positive male engagement.

With the forum completed, the event organisers said they aim to continue fostering platforms that support men’s personal growth, community involvement, and overall well-being.
