
Pandit Ubraj Narine, former Mayor of the City of Georgetown has resigned from the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) with immediate effect.
The resignation was formally conveyed in a letter dated November 20, 2025, addressed to Mr. Aubrey C. Norton, Leader of the PNCR, at Congress Place, Sophia, Georgetown.
In the letter, Mr. Narine stated that the decision follows a period of “thoughtful consideration of my personal responsibilities and future aspirations.”
He reflected on his tenure with the party, writing, “My involvement with the PNC/R has provided me with invaluable experiences, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to serve the people of Guyana with dedication and sincerity. For these, I express my genuine appreciation.”
Mr. Narine expressed gratitude for the support received during his time with the PNCR.
“I remain deeply grateful for the guidance, cooperation, and camaraderie extended to me by the Party and the wider party membership over the years,” the letter read.
He concluded his formal resignation by stressing a shared commitment to national development, despite his departure from the party.
“It is my hope that, even as our paths now diverge, we will continue to share a common commitment to peace, democracy, and the advancement of all Guyanese.”
Mr. Narine also extended his best wishes to the political body.
The signed letter included a copy sent to the General Secretary of the People’s National Congress Reform.
